From what may remain as hectares of wasteland, logged over
areas become open season to what is locally known as ''driftwood scavengers''.They come from different intentions some to
make charcoal searing the remaining wood for kitchen fuel to use or sell while the others come withheart of crafstman.They
create from the gnarted roots and stumps.Each creation is unique as a nature is unique.No two pieces are ever the same.Hauntingly
beatiful on its suspended state,its true nature is its drift.These products come in limited production pieces due to the very
nature of their material.These otherwise forest lumber wastage ar creatively transformed by gifted artisan (Joey Tiu) into

The Artist (Joey Tiu)
I collect the wood from various locations. Depending on the needs of my client.
I use a variety of woods from ocean
driftwood to river or lake wood. The wood however must be dried and tested for strength.
Some of my favourite pieces have
to be destroyed if the weaken while drying.
The process of deciding what looks best depends upon the piece, how creative
and unique I can construct this piece without compromising the soundness of the structure. The assembly is similar to a Japanese
puzzle once the structure fits snug; it will be dowelled and glued for an elegant but tight fit.
Each piece is a part
of me from beginning to end. And I am pleased when it goes to a home were it is loved and appreciated. The finished product
is waxed and polished to insure the original colour of the wood, therefore becoming an actual piece of art resembling, tradition
furniture.It shows your concern for the environment
with its natural beauty.
